The 1982 national champion Redmen soccer team was inducted to the McGill Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.

They posted a 15-1-3 record overall – with 55 goals for and 14 goals against – going undefeated against CIAU teams and their only loss was a 2-1 decision in exhibition play at Plattsburgh State. The 55 goals was the second-highest total in team history (record was 58). In regular season play, the Redmen posted a 9-0-3 record to finish first in the Quebec conference, scoring what was then a single-season school record 40 goals for, while allowing just nine against.

They won Quebec league championship with a convincing 4-1 victory over Concordia and went on to capture the CIAU national title with a 2-0 victory over UNB and a 1-0 shutout over Victoria in gold medal game at Molson Stadium.

The team was led by Gord Gow, who earned Quebec conference and CIS coach-of-the-year honours. Four players were voted as league all-stars: John D’Ambrosio, Mike Kondro, team captain Guy-Marie Joseph and Dickens St-Vil, with the latter three meriting all-Canadians honours.

At the nationals, three Redmen players made the CIAU all-tournament team: D'Ambrosio, Joseph and St-Vil, who earned Team MVP honours and capped a fine campaign by winning the Forbes trophy as McGill's male athlete of the year.

Other members of the squad included assistant coaches Zach Breganski and Rob Tipney, plus alternate captain Doug Cave, Alistair MacDonald, John Gummersell, Tony Iachetta, Marc Noë, John Kwamya, John Oestreich, Hisham Abdel-Rehman, Aldo Braccio, Steve Johnstone, Chris Barrow, Scott Green and Graham Butcher.
