Born on March 24, 1979 in St. Leonard, Que., Domenico Marcario grew up to measure 5-foot-11 and 190-pounds by the time he enrolled at McGill. Marcario went on to play four seasons with the men's varsity basketball squad before graduating with a kinesiology degree in 2003.

A shooting guard, Marcario was a four-time RSEQ conference all-star, receiving first-team honours in both, his sophomore and junior seasons. A two-time recipient of the Dr. Ross O. Hill Trophy as Team MVP, he graduated as the third-leading scorer in school history with 1,889 points in 119 games overall for an average of 15.9 points per game. He had a career year in 2001-02, posting a single-game personal best of 31 points, leading the league with an average of 18.7 points per game and earning RSEQ player-of-the-year honours.

Marcario
became only the fifth McGill player to achieve All-Canadian status, making the second-team in 2001-02. He was also awarded the Forbes Trophy as McGill's male athlete of the year.
He was tourney MVP at the 2001 McGill Redbird Classic and earned tournament all-star status at UNB's Ed Garland Memorial Classic in 2002.

In 2007, he became the team's first home-grown product selected to play for Team Canada, earning a call-up to the national senior development squad, which participated at international tournaments in Spain and Argentina.

After graduating, Marcario went on to a 12-year professional playing career in Ireland, Switzerland, France and Italy, highlighted by a national championship in 2007 with Roanne of the Pro A League in France. Since 2015, he has coached at the national and pro level in Switzerland, where he is currently serving as head coach in the city of Sion, located in the southwestern part of the country.
