Peter Bancroft Reid was born in Montreal on April 14, 1936. He competed for McGill in Nordic skiing, cross-country running and track and field from 1953 to 1957, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in commerce.

Reid captained both the track and ski teams and won the individual intercollegiate titles in both sports, capturing two track titles in the 880 yards and one in the 440.

In 1956-57, he guided McGill to the intercollegiate track and field championship

in the fall, and then won the individual Nordic ski title in the winter, capping off a fine season by capturing the Forbes trophy as McGill’s athlete of the year.
