Tina Fasone was 36 when inducted to the McGill Sports Hall of Fame in 2003, becoming the youngest woman inductee.
Born in Montreal on Sept. 27, 1967, Tina Fasone went on to become a three-time all-star swing guard with the McGill Martlets basketball team between 1986 and 1991.
Before graduating with Bachelor of Science degree in 1991, she served as captain, won three consecutive Team MVP awards and twice earned second-team All-Canadian honours.
Fasone led the Martlets in free-throw shooting for four seasons and also led the team in scoring in each of her last three years.
She led Quebec league in scoring in 1989-90, was 14th in the nation, with an average of 16.7 points per game.
She held the McGill all-time record for most points in a career with 2,120 in 164 games, until Vicky Tessier broke the mark in 1997. She also averaged 4.1 rebounds per game and ranked third among McGill’s all-time leading rebounders with 674.
A recipient of eight player-of-the-month awards and three Molson Cups as team’s most outstanding player of the year, she represented McGill at the 1989 World Francophone Games in Morocco, where she helped lead Quebec to a bronze medal in basketball.
