 Varsity Weight Room Information

Sport Priority Training Times and Reservations

The schedule indicates the priority training slots of various varsity teams.  These hours are often scheduled around the team's practice and competition schedule to help manage their training workloads and enhance the efficiency of the workouts.

As a varsity athlete, you can access the weight room during priority hours, however, be mindful and respectful of the team that is scheduled.  The priority team should always have first access to any of the weight room equipment

Reminders
  • Only varsity athletes are allowed in the varsity weight room. Special considerations will be made for Nationally Carded athletes.
  • Please ensure you clean up and return your equipment to it's designated spot.  A clean weight room environment is necessary for safety, space and creates a more effective and enjoyable training environment.
  • Varsity athletes do not have access to the main fitness center unless the individual has purchased a Fitness Centre Membership.
  • Music must include songs that are clean or radio edits.  Please be respectful of the McGill culture and high performance environment.  Adjust your playlists accordingly.
  • Ensure you use a spotter, or have safety pins in, when utilizing the varsity weight room.
  • Please stick to your training lane (rack/platform).  When working out with teammates, share the lane to provide athletes from other sports access to equipment.

Dress Code:
  • McGill issued team apparel is always encouraged in the VWR.  No other school/organization logos should be worn.
  • Appropriate athletic attire (t-shirt/tank top/hoodie and shorts/pants/leggings) are required
  • From a safety perspective, athletes should use minimalist shoes, rather than no shoes, when targeting barefoot training objectives
  • **We have a zero tolerance policy for bullying, intimidation, or disrespect of any kind (be it verbal, emotional, physical) towards fellow athletes, coaches or strength coaches**
