Danielle Day, from Ile-Bizard, Que., played her final two years of eligibility at McGill after three seasons at the University of Ottawa. Before graduating with a physical therapy degree in 2005, she merited all-conference honours four times in five her years of varsity competition, including twice with the McGill Martlets, where the 5-foot-7 striker scored 21 goals and collected 19 assists in 27 regular season games. In 2004, she merited all-Canadian honours for the second time, then received the Chantal Navert Award as the CIS female athlete of the year, followed by the Gladys Bean Trophy as McGill female athlete of the year. She was also one of four national finalists for the BLG Award awarded to the top CIS athlete across all sports. Day represented Canada at three separate world university summer games, in China (2001), South Korea (2003) and Turkey (2005).
