Abigail Tannebaum Sharon (BA '00), a native of Bethesda, Maryland, made an immediate impact when she arrived on campus in 1996 as a 17-year-old freshman, majoring in anthropology and cultural studies. She laid the foundation to launch a women's varsity lacrosse team, serving as team captain, coach and manager from Day 1. She coordinated fundraising efforts to pay for goal nets, equipment, team uniforms and travel expenses.
She successfully lobbied for the club to join the OUA conference in her sophomore year and led the team to a bronze medal that season. The team's leading scorer in two of her three seasons as a player, she was voted twice as an OUA East all-star (1997 & 1999). She was the recipient of the OUA East Lacrosse Coordinator Award in 1999 and served as the team's representative on the McGill Intercollegiate Sports Council.
