Hall of Fame
Holly McComb was born on Jan. 15, 1976 in Lachine, Que., and raised in Dollard des Ormeaux, Que. She graduated from McGill in 1998 with a physical education degree and was a key performer on the varsity swim team for four seasons. From 1995 to 1999, she captured a combined 15 gold medals in four trips to the Quebec conference championships in addition to a gold, three silvers and five bronzes at the CIAU national championships.
A four-time league all-star and two-time All-Canadian, she was named conference swimmer of the year in 1998-99, the same season that she captured the Gladys Bean Trophy as McGill's female athlete of the year. The 5-foot-6 freestyle specialist, who also swam for Canada at the 1993 Pan Pacific Games in Japan, held six McGill records, including a CIAU championship meet standard of 8:20.05 in the 4x800m freestyle relay. McComb also shone in the classroom, making the Principal's Student-athlete Honour Roll as well as earning Academic All-Canadian status. She was the recipient of numerous scholarships, in addition to a 1938 Champions Award for leadership and the team's Marie-Claude Saumure Award for academic and athletic excellence.
