Amber Allen was born Oct. 21, 1975 in Chilliwack, B.C., and raised in Pitt Meadows, B.C. She earned an MBA from McGill in 2002 after playing two seasons as an all-conference striker with the soccer Martlets and merited Academic All-Canadian status and a place on the Principal's Student-Athlete Honour Roll. Allen captured the CIAU national scoring crown in each of her two campaigns, guiding the Martlets to back-to-back Quebec conference championships and a silver medal at the 2001 CIAU Nationals.
Named as the Quebec league player of the year in 2000, she earned All-Canadian honours both seasons and graduated as the third-leading scorer in team history with 55 goals in 38 games overall, including a McGill single-season record 29 goals in 22 contests, scoring five of them in a game versus UQAM on Sept. 28, 2001. In regular season play, she tallied a remarkable 47 goals in only 22 career games. Allen went on to play for the Canadian national team and was named to the 2008 Olympic roster. She also played for the Vancouver Whitecaps, winning the 2004 North American championship with a team that was inducted to the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
