Born on April 10, 1979 in Ottawa, Eva Melamed went on to play three seasons as a striker for the Martlets soccer team (1998, 1999, 2001), earning all-conference honours three times and all-Canadian status twice.

A co-captain, she led McGill to Quebec league titles in 1999 and 2001 and also guided the team to a silver medal at the 2001 CIAU national championship. That season, Melamed was voted MVP of the Quebec conference (QSSF) and won the Chantal Navert Memorial Award as CIAU soccer player of the year.

She was named to All-Tournament Team at CIAU national championships in both 1999 and 2001.

A prolific sniper, Melamed led the nation in 1999 with 16 goals in 10 regular season games and set a school single-season record with 27 markers in 17 games overall. Included was a personal best four goals in a game -- which she accomplished twice -- against Toronto (Sept. 4/99) and UQTR (Sept. 26/99).

In 2000, she took a sabbatical from McGill to study in Israel. Melamed then returned for another banner campaign in 2001, winning the QSSF scoring title again and finishing second in CIS regular season scoring with 16 goals in 10 games. She ended up with 19 tallies in 16 contests overall.

A two-time team MVP with the Martlets, Melamed graduated in second-place among McGill's all-time scoring leaders with 65 goals in 56 games overall, including eight career hat-tricks.

In 2001, she played for Canada at the FISU World University Summer Games in Beijing and topped the team in scoring with six goals in four games.

In the classroom, she earned Academic All-Canadian status and was named to the Principal's Student-athlete Honour Roll before graduating with honours from McGill in 2002 with a bachelor of arts degree, majoring in political science. She followed that with a law degree (LLB) from Osgoode Hall in 2006.

Melamed, who now resides in Toronto, was called to the Ontario Bar in 2007 and joined the law firm of Birenbaum, Steinberg, Landau, Savin & Colraine LLP in 2008, where she specializes in all areas of civil and commercial litigation.

Eva joined the BSLSC team in 2008. She specializes in all all areas of civil and commercial litigation. She regularly advocates for her clients before the Superior Court of Justice at motions, applications, trials, mediations, pre-trials, examinations, and settlement conferences.

She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association as well as the Ontario Bar Association.
