MONTREAL – David Apap, a native of France and Allene Kennedy of Truckee, Calif., are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub & Grill, for the period ending March 24, 2013.

Apap, a member of the men's alpine ski team, finished fourth in a giant slalom race at Mt. Stoneham, Friday, completing his two races in a combined time of 2:11.42. The result gave him enough points to win the conference's individual scoring title by 85 points. He finished first of the circuit's 50 skiers with 1,135 points overall at the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec championship meet over the weekend. It marked the first RSEQ title by a McGill male since 2006. Apap, a 6-foot-1, 188-pound native of Gap, in the French Alps, also earned RSEQ all-conference honours. The 25-year-old master's student in physical therapy posted six podium finishes in 10 races this season, with five gold medals and a bronze.

Kennedy, a member of the women’s ski team, won silver in Friday's giant slalom, completing her two runs in a combined time of 2:15.51. She finished sixth of 44 entries in Saturday’s two races (2:23.75). An 18-year-old science freshman, she ended up third overall in the RSEQ scoring race with 880 points overall, meriting first-team all-conference honours. The 5-foot-5 rookie ended up with three podium finishes over the season, including a pair of bronze medals.

Both athletes will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
