MONTREAL – Clement Secchi of France and Daphne Danyluk of Rivière-des-Prairies, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 24, 2021.
 
Secchi broke school and conference records enroute to earning swimmer-of-the-meet honours as the McGill men's swim team finished first of five teams at the second Quebec Cup meet, held in Sherbrooke last Saturday. The 5-foot-11 sprinter produced a meet-high four podium finishes, with three gold medals and a silver. A 21-year-old management senior, Secchi rewrote his own RSEQ record in the 100-metre butterfly (52.11 seconds), erasing the previous standard of 52.25. His gold medal-winning time in the 200 freestyle (1:47.76) was worth a meet-best 784 points on the FINA point-scoring table. He also helped the 4x100 freestyle relay win gold in 3:21.74. Secchi's silver medal performance was in the 1500 free (15:37.16).
 
Danyluk, a 5-foot-7 sprinter, struck gold three times as the McGill women's swim team finished first of five teams at the Quebec Cup meet in Sherbrooke last Saturday.  The 22-year-old anatomical science junior won the 200m backstroke in 2:12.36 and swam leadoff in two winning relays. The 4x100 medley relay was clocked in 4:12.69 and the 4x100 freestyle relay finished in 3:48.53. Danyluk enrolled at McGill in 2019 after graduating from College de Maisonneuve.
