MONTREAL --
Seth Obadia of Port Washington, N.Y., and
Tricia Deguire of Sherbrooke, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Nov. 4, 2018.
Obadia, a 5-foot-11 attackman with the lacrosse Redmen, registered a hat-trick as McGill defeated Bishop's 10-3 in a sudden-death playoff game last Friday, to qualify for the national championship tournament in Toronto, Nov. 9-11. The NCAA Division 1 transfer from Lafayette College is a 20-year-old economics major in his first season at McGill. He led the team in scoring with 32 points, including 24 goals, in 10 regular season contests.
Deguire, a 5-foot-8 netminder with the hockey Martlets, registered a 21-save shutout as eighth-ranked McGill blanked the No.1-ranked Montreal Carabins 4-0 in an RSEQ league game played before her hometown friends and family at Complexe Sportif Thibault in Sherbrooke Que., last Sunday. The 21-year-old science junior who majors in kinesiology, improved her record to 4-0 in league play and now leads the league in wins, shutouts (2), goals-against average (0.50) and save percentage (.982).
