MONTREAL – Emilie Matte De Grasse of Montreal and  Emerson Dohm of West Vancouver, B.C., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 8, 2018.

Matte De Grasse, a 5-foot-10 power-hitter with the volleyball Martlets, was named Tournament MVP as McGill captured their own Martlet Invitational over the weekend with three straight wins over Montreal, Saint Mary’s and UQAM after losing the opener to the Citadins.  A physical education senior who turns 25 this week, she scored a tourney-leading 60.5 points over 14 sets played, with 44 kills, seven service aces and 9.5 stuff blocks. The fifth-year physical education senior also registered 34 digs, three assists, a 37 per cent kill percentage and a 27 per cent kill efficiency. She enrolled at McGill in 2014 out of College Edouard-Montpetit.

Dohm, a 5-foot-11, 177-pound infielder and designated hitter with the baseball Redmen, registered a .500 on-base percentage and collected a team-leading five hits, helping McGill to eliminate the Université de Montréal 2-1 in a Canadian Collegiate Baseball Association best-of-three semifinal series. The 22-year-old economics senior batted .455 with a 5-for-11 performance at the plate with one double, a walk and three runs batted in and three runs scored. After suffering a shocking 9-7 loss in Game 1 of the series on Saturday, Dohm stroked a walk-off-the-field RBI single in Game 2 as McGill rallied with four runs in the final inning for a dramatic 5-4 victory, forcing a rubber match which they won 14-1. Dohm is a product of Vancouver College, an independent prep school in Vancouver, B.C.
