MONTREAL -- Cameron Perrin of North Vancouver, B.C., and Katie Caldwell of White Rock, B.C., are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub, for the period ending Nov. 24, 2013.

Perrin scored eight points as the McGill men's rugby team defeated Concordia 16-6 to capture their eighth consecutive RSEQ conference championship at Molson Stadium last Friday. The 21-year-old history senior kicked for two penalty goals and added a conversion on an early try which put the Redmen ahead 7-0 before the contest was three minutes old. His first penalty goal made it 10-0 and after Concordia narrowed the gap to 10-6, Perrin connected for another penalty kick to give the Redmen a 13-6 cushion with just under 29 minutes remaining.

Caldwell, a 19-year-old sprinter on the McGill women's swim team, won gold in the 200-metre individual medley as the Martlets finished fourth of eight teams at the University Challenge Cup meet hosted by the University of Toronto, Thursday. A sophomore majoring in international development studies, she was clocked in  two minutes, 13.97 seconds, a swim worth 804 points on the FINA scale. It was easily the fastest time swam across the CIS this season but shy of her own school and RSEQ conference record of 2:11.20  set last spring.

Both athletes will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
