Alex Paquin of Montreal, and
Stephanie Susinski of London, England, are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub, for the period ending Feb. 11, 2018.
Paquin, a six-foot, 190-pound point-guard, accounted for 26.7 per cent of McGill's offence with a game-high 23 points as McGill clipped Concordia 86-63 in RSEQ men's basketball last Saturday. A 23-year-old applied finance major, he shot 8-for-15 from the field, including a 3-for-7 performance from three-point range, and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. The first-year NCAA transfer, who played three seasons with American University in Washington, was also credited with three rebounds, seven assists and one steal.
Susinski, a 19-year-old Arts freshman majoring in English, won gold and silver medals at the Cornell Invitational track and field meet in Ithaca, N.Y., Sunday, in a competition that featured over 500 competitors, The 5-foot-8 middle-distance runner won the 300 metres in 41.57 seconds, only two seconds off the school record of 39.48. She also ran the anchor lef of the 4x400m relay, which came in second. Two days earlier, Susinski also competed the FastTrack Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, where she ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay, which placed ninth in 3:59.44.
