Biography

Benjamin Carré is a 5-foot-11, 181-pound defensive back from Trois-Rivières, Que. The 23-year-old civil engineering senior dressed in 30 of the team’s 32 regular season games over his four years at McGill. He had an impressive nine career interceptions for 246 yards of real estate, two of which were returned for lengthy TDs of 71 and 100 yards. He registered 88 career tackles, including 75 solos, with 7.5 for loss and four quarterback sacks.
 
Carré earned a starting role in his junior season in 2018 and had a stellar campaign, leading the Quebec conference and ranking second in the nation with five picks. He was only the third DB in McGill history – and the first since 2003 – to be named Team MVP (Students’ Society Trophy) and was also named as the team’s most outstanding defensive player (Friends of McGill Football Trophy) and best team player (Charlie Baillie Trophy). He was selected as the McGill athlete of the week (Sept. 3/18), twice named RSEQ football player of the week (Sept. 4/18, Oct. 22/18) and earned U SPORTS player of the week honours (Sept. 5, 2018).
