MONTREAL - Two longtime foes will be crossing paths in post-season play for the 17th time this week when the Concordia Stingers hook up with the McGill Redbirds, in an OUA East men's hockey semifinal best-of-three affair.
 
The series opens on Wednesday (Feb. 21) evening at McConnell Arena, located at 3883 University Street, just north of Percival Molson Stadium. Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday (Feb. 24) at the Ed Meagher Arena. If a rubber match is needed, it will be back at McConnell on Sunday night (Feb. 25). All three games are slated for a 7 p.m. puck drop.

Tickets must be purchased online and are $20 for general admission, $13 for McGill students and staff, and senior citizens (65+); and $5 for youths (16 and under).

McGill has taken 10 of the previous 16 playoff series meetings from Concordia, winning 20 of 36 games. The Stingers won the last playoff rendezvous 2-1 in 2018, which snapped a string of five consecutive head-to-head playoff series wins for the Redbirds. Overall games, the cross-town rivals have met 243 times since Concordia was founded in 1975, and McGill holds a slight 115-114-14 record.

This will be the first game of the 2024 post-season for McGill, which earned n opening round playoff bye after finishing first in the OUA East with a 21-5-2 record, scoring 116 goals, while allowing 80 for a differential of plus-36.
 
The fifth-place Stingers posted a 17-8-3 record while scoring 109 goals and allowing 79 for a plus-30 differential. They upset fourth-place Queen's in the quarter-final round last week, winning 3-1 in Kingston and 4-3 in overtime at home.
 
McGill won three of four meetings with the Stingers this season, including a 4-3 preseason victory on home ice (Sept. 30), a 4-3 loss at home in the OUA season opener (Oct. 5), a 1-0 conquest at home (Nov. 23) and a 5-4 overtime win in the annual Corey Cup game at Concordia (Jan. 31).
