Seven McGillians to play for Quebec university all-stars vs Habs prospects, Sept.10

MONTREAL – Seven members of the McGill men's hockey team are among a 21-player roster selected to play for the "Quebec University All-Stars" in a showcase game against the Montreal Canadiens top prospects. Scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard, Que., this event will mark the conclusion of the Habs rookie camp and will be open to the public.

The all-stars are composed of players from each of the three Quebec-based programs that compete in the Ontario University Athletics conference, namely McGill, Concordia and UQTR.
 
The McGillians include senior goaltender Louis-Philip Guindon of St. Joseph du Lac, Que., along with defencemen Nikolas Brouillard, a junior from St. Hilaire, Que., and senior Dominic Talbot-Tassi of Mascouche, Que. The forwards are Christophe Lalonde, a senior from Mirabel, Que., senior Samuel Tremblay of St. Basile le Grand, Que., senior Guillaume Gauthier of Ste. Marthe du Lac, Que., and sophomore Ryan Penny, a native of Fall River, N.S., who transferred last year from Binghamton of the American Hockey League.
                                                                                                                         
The all-star squad will be guided by Marc-André Element, head coach of the Concordia Stingers. His assistant coaches will be McGill's Liam Heelis, who will handle the forwards, and UQTR's Marc-Étienne Hubert, who wil be responsible for the defencemen.
 
The Canadiens prospects will be handled by the Laval Rocket coaching staff led by head coach Joël Bouchard, along with assistant coaches Daniel Jacob, Alex Burrows. Jacob is a McGill graduate who skated for the varsity team from 2000 to 2005 and served as team captain before a stint on the McGill coaching staff.
 
The university teams officially opened their training camps last week in their respective arenas, while the Canadiens main training camp is slated to begin on Sept. 12 at the Bell Sports Complex.
 
McGill will play six preseason contests, beginning with a visit from archrival Queen's on Friday, Sept. 13 in a 7:30 p.m. start at McConnell Arena. Concordia's first exhibition game is scheduled for Sept. 18 at UQTR.
