MONTREAL -- Forward Olivia Atkinson of the McGill University Martlets was a ninth-round selection of Les Canadiennes in the 2018 Canadian Women's Hockey League draft on Sunday.

Atkinson was one of 13 products of U SPORTS, the national governing body for university sports in Canada. Five of the selections have represented U SPORTS at the Hockey Canada's Summer Showcase in Calgary.

The 22-year-old from Oakville, Ont., is a 5-foot-8 left-winger who is about to enter her senior year as a psychology and economics major. Atkinson was the only member of the Martlets to player to merit RSEQ all-star status last season, earning a berth on the second team. She finished eighth in the RSEQ conference scoring race last year with an 8-8-16 record in 20 games. Overall, she played in 37 games and ranked second on the Martlets in both goals (15) and points (24), and led the team with eight PPGs.

Other Canadian university products include Concordia's Marie-Joëlle Allard and Caroll-Ann Gagne, Carleton's Andreanne Carlos, Ryerson's Ailish Forfar, Montreal's Maude Gelinas, Guelph's Kelly Gribbons, Manitoba's Venla Hovi, UPEI's Emma Martin, Calgary's Cheyann Newman, Western's Emma Pearson, UBC's Tatiana Rafter and Saskatchewan's Kaitlin Willoughby.
