MONCTON, N.B. — Abby Whitworth scored the go-ahead goal with 4:43 remaining in the third period as the Toronto Varsity Blues rallied for a 3-2 victory over McGill, Sunday, to sweep the three-game Moncton Women's Hockey Jamboree.
McGill, which finished the preseason tournament with a 1-2 record, led 2-1 after the opening period before Toronto scored twice in the final frame. The Varsity Blues improved to 4-0.
McGill outshot Toronto 26-20 and went 2-for-4 on the power play. The Varsity Blues were held scoreless on six opportunities with the extra attacker.

Anika Cormier, a fifth-year senior from Ste. Marie de Kent, N.B., and sophomore
Chloe Blanchard of Drummondville, Que., scored power-play goals for McGill, while Taylor Delahey, captain Kaitlyn McKnight and Whitworth replied for Toronto.
Delahey opened the scoring at 8:41 of the first period, converting a pass from her twin sister Ashley, but the Martlets responded with a pair of goals on the power play.
Cormier tied the game at 13:11 and Blanchard put McGill ahead 2-1 at 15:21. Cormier also drew an assist on the second goal for a two-point outing, while
Rylie Kiratzis assisted on both McGill markers.
After a scoreless second period, McKnight pulled Toronto even at 8:17 of the third.
Whitworth then completed the comeback at 15:17, converting a setup from Jaia Freer to give the Varsity Blues their first lead since the opening period.
Toronto goaltender Lyla McKinnon stopped 24 of 26 shots to earn the victory.
Jade Rivard-Coulombe made 17 saves on 20 shots in the McGill net.
The Martlets (1-2) have two more preseason contests on the docket before the RSEQ schedule begins on Oct. 18. McGill continues preseason play on the road against Carleton on Friday (7 p.m.) and then hosts Queen's on oct. 4 (3 pm). Toronto (4-0) will host York the same night at 7 p.m.

MONCTON, N.-B. — Abby Whitworth a inscrit le but décisif avec 4:43 à écouler en troisième période et les Varsity Blues de Toronto ont comblé un déficit pour vaincre McGill 3-2, dimanche, et balayer leurs trois matchs au Tournoi de hockey féminin de Moncton.
McGill, qui a conclu le tournoi préparatoire avec une fiche de 1-2, menait 2-1 après la première période avant de voir Toronto marquer deux fois au dernier engagement. Les Varsity Blues ont porté leur fiche à 4-0.
McGill a dominé 26-20 au chapitre des tirs au but et a fait mouche deux fois en quatre occasions en avantage numérique. Les Varsity Blues ont été blanchies en six supériorités numériques.
La capitaine des Martlets, Anika Cormier, une finissante de cinquième année originaire de Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, au N.-B., et Chloe Blanchard, étudiante de deuxième année de Drummondville, au Québec, ont marqué en avantage numérique pour McGill. Taylor Delahey, la capitaine Kaitlyn McKnight et Whitworth ont répliqué pour Toronto.
Delahey a ouvert la marque à 8:41 de la première période en convertissant une passe de sa sœur jumelle Ashley, mais les Martlets ont répliqué avec deux buts en avantage numérique.
Cormier a créé l'égalité à 13:11, puis Blanchard a donné les devants 2-1 à McGill à 15:21. Cormier a également récolté une mention d'aide sur le deuxième but pour terminer la rencontre avec deux points, tandis que Rylie Kiratzis a participé aux deux filets des Martlets.
Après une deuxième période sans but, McKnight a ramené les deux équipes à la case départ à 8:17 du troisième engagement.
Whitworth a ensuite complété la remontée à 15:17, sur une passe de Jaia Freer, pour procurer aux Varsity Blues leur première avance depuis la première période.
La gardienne de Toronto Lyla McKinnon a repoussé 24 des 26 tirs dirigés vers elle pour mériter la victoire. Jade Rivard-Coulombe a effectué 17 arrêts sur 20 tirs devant le filet de McGill.
Les Martlets (1-2) ont encore deux matchs préparatoires à disputer avant le début du calendrier du RSEQ, le 18 octobre. McGill poursuivra sa préparation vendredi sur la route contre Carleton, à 19 h, avant d'accueillir Queen's le 4 octobre, à 15 h. Toronto (4-0) recevra York le même soir, à 19 h.
