(VERSION FRANÇAISE CI-DESSOUS) MONTREAL – The McGill University men's hockey team will open their OUA East best-of-three quarter-final series on Wednesday, Feb. 17 when they host Concordia in a 7 p.m. start at McConnell Arena, located at 3883 University Street (behind Percival Molson Stadium).
Game 2 is set for the Ed Meagher Arena on Friday (Feb. 19) at 7:30 pm. If a third game is needed, it is slated for McConnell on Sunday (Feb. 21) at 5 pm. All of McGill's home playoff games will be streamed live at the
McGill Sports Network while the game at Concordia will be streamed at the
Concordia Sports Network. Live stats for all games can be found
online.
McGill is 96-96-14 lifetime against the Stingers, including a 14-11 record in post-season meetings. The Redmen won three of four meetings thios season, outscoring Concordia 16-9. This will be the third straight season that the Redmen have confronted their cross-town rivals in the playoffs. The Redmen have won eight of the 12 playoff series between the clubs and Concordia's last victory was 15 years ago.
Concordia swept both the
1977 and
1979 series meetings in two straight games. McGill won in
1988 (2-1),
1989 (2-0),
1993 (1-0) and
1995 (1-0). The Stingers then won in
1998 (2-1), followed by a McGill victory in
2000 (2-0), a Concordia conquest in
2001 (2-0), and McGill wins in
2007 (2-1),
2014 (2-0) and
2015 (2-1).
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, while children 12-and-under are free. Tickets will be available at the door or can be purchased in advance at the Redbird Sports Shop, located inside the McGill Sports Centre.
This week, the Redmen have slipped another spot in the CIS Top 10 poll. In the wake of last week's 4-2 Corey Cup loss to Concordia, the Redmen dropped to No.7. In the previous poll, they dropped one spot, despite a 7-3 win over the Stingers.
The
University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds are the top-ranked team in CIS men's hockey heading into the playoffs. The V-Reds (23-3-2) received 14 first-place votes and 158 points from the 16-member media panel to lead the national poll for the second straight week and for the fifth time overall this season.
The remaining first-place nods went to the
UQTR Patriotes (24-3-1), who remain comfortably at No. 2 thanks to their 143-point tally.

th poll of the campaign are the third-ranked

The regular season came to an end this past weekend in all three CIS conferences with UNB, UQTR and Saskatchewan finishing atop the standings.
The V-Reds extended their impressive winning streak to 14 consecutive league games – including a perfect 13-0 record in 2016 – thanks to a pair of road victories, 4-0 against St. Thomas and 4-1 over UPEI.
The Patriotes ended the regular schedule with a 6-5 double-overtime win at Concordia and a 3-2 shootout success at Carleton to set a single-season program record with 24 conference victories. UQTR is undefeated in nine straight and has won its last 11 road games.
In Canada West, the Huskies wrapped up league play with a two-game split against cross-town rival Regina but the Golden Bears are the red-hot team going into the post-season after sweeping Top-10 foes Saskatchewan and Mount Royal the past two weekends.
The playoffs get under way across the country this week with 12 best-of-three series, including conference quarter-finals in the AUS and Canada West and divisional quarter-finals in the OUA. Top-10 teams earning a first-round bye include UNB, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Acadia.

OTTAWA (SIC) – Les
Varsity Reds de l'Université du Nouveau-Brunswick sont l'équipe la mieux cotée en hockey masculin de SIC à l'aube des séries éliminatoires.
Les V-Reds (23-3-2) ont reçu 14 des 16 votes de première place et 158 points de la part du panel composé de membres des médias pour mériter la pole pour une deuxième semaine de suite et pour une cinquième fois au total cette saison.
Les autres votes pour le premier rang sont allés aux
Patriotes de l'UQTR (24-3-1), qui conservent aisément le deuxième échelon grâce à une récolte de 143 points.
Le 15
e scrutin de la campagne est complété dans l'ordre par les
Huskies de la Saskatchewan (22-6-0 / 123 points / aucun changement), les
Golden Bears de l'Alberta (19-7-2 / 111 / en hausse d'une position), les
Axemen d'Acadia (19-7-2 / 81 / baisse de un), les
X-Men de StFX (18-6-4 / 80 / hausse de deux), les
Redmen de McGill (21-6-1 / 76 / baisse de un), les
Ravens de Carleton (20-7-1 / 41 / hausse de un), les
Cougars de Mount Royal (17-8-3 / 29 / baisse de deux) et les
Huskies de Saint Mary's (17-8-3 / 27 / aucun changement).
La saison régulière a pris fin au cours du dernier week-end dans les trois conférences de SIC, UNB, l'UQTR et la Saskatchewan terminant en tête des classements.
Les V-Reds ont prolongé leur remarquable série de victoires à 14 matchs consécutifs – incluant un dossier parfait de 13-0 en 2016 – grâce à des gains sur la route de 4-0 face à St. Thomas et de 4-1 contre UPEI.
Les Patriotes ont complété le calendrier régulier avec des succès de 6-5 en deuxième prolongation à Concordia et de 3-2 en fusillade à Carleton, ce qui leur permettait d'établir un record d'équipe avec 24 victoires en une seule saison. Les Trifluviens sont invaincus à leurs neuf dernières sorties et ont remporté 11 rencontres d'affilée à l'extérieur.
Dans l'Ouest canadien, les Huskies ont terminé le calendrier en divisant les honneurs d'un programme double face à Regina, mais ce sont les Golden Bears qui ont le vent dans les voiles à l'aube des séries, eux qui viennent de balayer coup sur coup deux adversaires du Top 10, soit la Saskatchewan et Mount Royal.
Les éliminatoires débutent cette semaine à travers le pays avec 12 séries au meilleur de trois matchs, incluant des quarts de finale de conférence dans l'Atlantique et dans l'Ouest et des quarts de finale de division au sein de SUO. Quatre formations du Top 10 profitent d'un laissez-passer au premier tour, soit UNB, la Saskatchewan, l'Alberta et Acadia.
