Gerrad Grant of Halifax scored a shorthanded goal and collected a pair of assists as his Saint Mary's Huskies skated to a 7-1 triumph over visiting McGill in CIS men's preseason hockey at the Halifax Forum, Saturday.
The Huskies, who had a 36-28 edge in shots, led 3-1 after the opening period and 4-1 after two. McGill was 1-for-7 on the power-lay, while SMU was 0-for-3.
David Rose of St. Hubert, Que., tallied the lone McGill marker with a nice wrist-shot from the slot while on a power-play at 2:00 of the first period to even the score at 1-1. Second-year blueliner

Karel St-Laurent made his fourth straight start between the pipes for McGill and took the loss. He turned aside 29 of 36 shots.
The Huskies continue their exhibition schedule on Wednesday night against the Saint Francis Xavier X-Men in Bridgewater, N.S. The Redmen, who dropped to 1-3 in exhibition play, will return home to the friendly confines of McConnell Arena and host Royal Military College on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m.
