MONTREAL -- A large crowd is expected Wednesday night when No. 1 ranked McGill hosts the No.6 UQTR Patriotes in a huge OUA men's hockey game at McConnell Arena, located atop University Street, behind Percival Molson Stadium. with only one point separating the two teams in the OUA East. Puck-drop is set for 7 pm.
Tickets at the door are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, Admission is free for children aged 12 and under. Advance tickets can be purchased at the
Redbird Sports Shop located in the McGill Sports Centre, 475 Pine Ave. West, (514-398-1539).
The hockey game will also be streamed live on the
McGill Sports Network with live stats available
online.
McGill won the only other regular season meeting between these bitter rivals, with a 5-4 victory in overtime back on Oct. 23.
In the CIS Top 10 national rankings poll released on Tuesday, McGill is ranked No.1 in hockey for the second time this season. The hockey team is one of seven McGill teams ranked this week, which ties the school record for most teams in the Top 10 during the same week. The hockey and basketball Martlets are both ranked second, the basketball Redmen are third, the women's swim team is sixth, followed by the Redmen swimmers at eighth and the volleyball Martlets at No. 9
GAME NOTES:
In last Saturday's 3-2 win over Queen's, the Redmen collected their 1,000
th lifetime victory against Canadian university opponents... McGill leads all 35 CIS men's hockey schools with 23 goals from their defencemen.

Samuel Labrecque leads the CIS scoring race with 29 points and is ranked second in goals with 13 in 16 games. He needs three goals to break the single-season McGill record for defencemen, set 34 years ago by
Gilles Hudon, who tallied 15 in 24 games during the 1981-82 season.
Labrecque also needs 14 points in his last 12 games to break the single-season school record by a rearguard, held by
Alain Cusson who tallied 42 points in 26 games back in 1988-89.

Liam Heelis, were among a group unveiled on Monday to compete in a two-game exhibition series between CIS men's hockey all-stars and Canada's national junior team prospects in two weeks. The two-game set, which was announced earlier this month, will take place at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. EST and Sunday, Dec. 13 at noon EST as part of the national junior team's preparation for the 40
th IIHF world junior championship in Finland (Dec. 26 – Jan. 5). The 23-player CIS lineup – which includes 20 with CHL experience – is comprised of 11 standouts from the OUA conference and six apiece from the AUS and Canada West leagues.
