GAME NOTES:

In last Saturday's 3-2 win over Queen's, the Redmen collected their 1,000th lifetime victory against Canadian university opponents...  McGill leads all 35 CIS men's hockey schools with 23 goals from their defencemen.

Blueliner Samuel Labrecque leads the CIS scoring race with 29 points and is ranked second in goals with 13 in 16 games. He needs three goals to break the single-season McGill record for defencemen, set 34 years ago by Gilles Hudon, who tallied 15 in 24 games during the 1981-82 season. Labrecque also needs 14 points in his last 12 games to break the single-season school record by a rearguard, held by Alain Cusson who tallied 42 points in 26 games back in 1988-89.

McGill teammates Samuel Labrecque and centre Liam Heelis, were among a group unveiled on Monday to compete in a two-game exhibition series between CIS men's hockey all-stars and Canada's national junior team prospects in two weeks. The two-game set, which was announced earlier this month, will take place at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. EST and Sunday, Dec. 13 at noon EST as part of the national junior team's preparation for the 40th IIHF world junior championship in Finland (Dec. 26 – Jan. 5). The 23-player CIS lineup – which includes 20 with CHL experience – is comprised of 11 standouts from the OUA conference and six apiece from the AUS and Canada West leagues.

Hockey players David Rose of St. Hubert, Que., and Melodie Daoust, from Valleyfield, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub, for the period ending Nov. 29, 2015.
