MONTREAL -- Clement Secchi and Daphne Danyluk are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending March 27, 2022.

Secchi, a 5-foot-11 sprinter with the men's swim team, earned All-Canadian status and became only the second Quebec university athlete in RSEQ history to be named swimmer of the year at the U SPORTS championships, last weekend. The 21-year-old management senior from Aix-en-Provence, in France, led all swimmers on the men's side with four gold medals and a pair of silvers, while breaking two national records, six RSEQ standards and a half-dozen team marks while guiding McGill to a third-place finish. Secchi broke the McGill, RSEQ and U SPORTS records in the 50m (23.05) and 100m (50.99) butterflys. He set school and conference records while winning the 200m butterfly (1:54.61) and the 4x100m freestyle relay (3:14.37). His silver medal performances were also McGill and RSEQ records, in the 200m freestyle (1:44.71) and the 4x200m freestyle relay (7:14.45).

Danyluk, a 5-foot-9 sprinter with the McGill women's swim team, earned second-team All-Canadian status after winning one silver medal and breaking four school records at the U SPORTS national championships hosted by Université Laval over the weekend. The 23-year-old anatomy and biology senior from Rivière des Prairies, Que., helped McGill finish fourth overall by winning silver in the women's 200 backstroke, which established a school record in 2:09.01. She also helped break team records in three relays, swimming the anchor leg of the 4x100 freestyle (3:43.98), the second leg on the 4x200 freestyle (8:12.00) and Danyluk swam leadoff on the 4x100 medley (4:08.22).
