MONTREAL – Cross-country's
Chloé Fleurent-Grégoire of Laval, Que., and soccer's
Reese Carlow, a native of Osaka, Japan, are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 3, 2021.
Fleurent-Grégoire, a 5-foot-5 distance runner, placed second of 67 entrants as the McGill Martlets finished first of seven teams to capture the Capital Cross-Country Challenge at Mooney's Bay Park, in Ottawa, Saturday. A 24-year-old master's student who graduated with a nutritional degree in 2020, Fleurent-Grégoire was clocked in 23:11, just five seconds off the gold medal pace. A product of Collège Lionel-Groulx, she enrolled at McGill in 2016 and has competed on both, the cross-country and track teams since then.
Carlow, a 19-year-old Arts freshman, assisted on three of McGill's four goals over the weekend. The 5-foot-8, 132-pound midfielder set up the tying goal in a 1-1 draw with Concordia last Thursday, then added a pair of helpers on the first two goals, in a 3-1 victory against Sherbrooke on Sunday.
