MONTREAL – Cross-country runners
Noah El Rimawi-Fine of Keene Valley, N.Y., and
Sophie Courville from Montreal, are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 17, 2023.
El Rimawi-Fine, a 22-year-old computer science senior, finished second of 112 runners and led his Redbirds to place first of 11 teams at the McGill Invitational, the RSEQ's season-opening cross-country meet, last Saturday, on the slopes of Mt. Royal Park. It was the McGill's first men's title in eight years at their own meet. The 5-foot-10, 150-pound distance runner completed the six-kilometre race in 19:01, some 14 seconds off the course record winning time.
Courville, a 20-year-old science sophomore majoring in physiology and mathematics, finished third of 77 entries at the 2023 McGill Invitational, the RSEQ's season-opening cross-country meet at Mt. Royal Park. The 5-foot-7 distance runner completed the six-kilometre race with a bronze-medal time of 22:39. A product of College de Maisonneuve, Courville enrolled at McGill in 2022 and earned RSEQ second-team all-conference honours.
