MONTREAL – Katia Clement-Heydra of St. Bruno de Montarville, Que., and Simon Bibeau of St. Bruno, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub & Grill, for the period ending Jan. 20, 2013.

Clement-Heydra, a 5-foot-7 forward with the women's hockey team, scored seven points, including four goals as McGill swept two games last week, extending their record to 16-0 against CIS opponents. The 23-year-old industrial relations junior scored four points, including a natural hat-trick and the game-winner in a 6-1 home-ice victory over Ottawa last Saturday. Her three goals were registered in 118 seconds, the fastest hat-trick in school history. A day earlier, she tallied the winning goal and added a pair of assists in a 4-3 win over the No.-ranked Montreal Carabins.  Before joining the Martlets in 2010, she played for College Edouard-Montpetit.

Bibeau, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard with the men's basketball team, came off the bench to score 28 points in two wins last week. He shot a stellar 62.5 per cent from the field (10/16) and a sizzling 72.7 from three-point range (8/11), to go along with two rebounds, three steals and three assists. A 21-year-old honours student in investment management, he registered a team-high 17 points as McGill rallied on the road to defeat Bishop’s 63-60 last Wednesday. Prior to enrolling at McGill, Bibeau starred for St. Mary’s Catholic secondary school.

Both athletes will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
