MONTREAL –Brenna Bordeniuk of Calgary and Elijah Williams of Dollard des Ormeaux, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 19.
 
Bordeniuk, a 5-foot-4 rookie goalkeeper with the women’s soccer team, registered a pair of shutouts, saving all seven shots faced. The 18-year-old science freshman made two saves in a 0-0 draw against visiting UQAM last Thursday, then turned aside all five shots in a 3-0 win at UQTR on Sunday. A product of The Edge School in Calgary, she has started in each of the team’s three regular season games this season.
 
Williams, a six-foot, 180-pound running back with the football team, collected 101 all-purpose yards and scored one touchdown in the Shaughnessy Cup game last Friday, a 36-33 overtime loss to Concordia. The 22-year-old rushed 13 times for a game-high 94 yards, including a three-yard TD run that gave McGill a 16-2 lead early in the second quarter. He also caught a seven-yard pass in the game. It was only his third career contest for McGill after being recruited out of John Abbott College.
