Clement-Heydra and Bibeau named McGill athletes of the week
 
MONTREAL -- Katia Clement-Heydra of St. Bruno de Montarville, Que., and Simon Bibeau of St. Bruno, Que.,  are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub, for the period ending Feb. 2, 2013.
 
Clement-Heydra, a 5-foot-7 forward with the women's hockey team, scored eight points in two games, both victories for the top-ranked Martlets who extended their win streak to 43 consecutive regular-season contests. She was in on eight of McGill’s 10 goals over the weekend, assisting on the game-winner in both games. In a 5-1 road win at Concordia last Friday, Clement-Heydra scored once and added three helpers. Then on Sunday, in a 5-2 home-ice win over Ottawa, she tallied twice and set up two other markers. The 24-year-old industrial relations senior currently leads the RSEQ conference in scoring and ranks second in the nation with a 13-26-38 record in just 17 outings. She also helped Canada win gold at the FISU World University Games in Italy prior to the Christmas break, scoring five goals and 18 points in just seven games, all victories for Canada.  Before joining the Martlets in 2010, she played for College Edouard-Montpetit.
 
Bibeau, a 6-foot-2, 183-pound point-guard with the men's basketball team, scored 36 points in a key two-game sweep over Bishop’s last week, as the No.8-ranked Redmen regained the RSEQ division lead over the Gaiters. The 22-year-old investment management senior shot a sizzling 52.9 per cent from the floor (9/17), made four of six attempts from three-point range (66.7%) and was a perfect 14-for-14 from the free-throw line. He also pulled down five rebounds to go along with three steals and a pair of assists. Bibeau is a product of Champlain College in St. Lambert and St. Mary's Catholic high school in Ottawa.
 
Both athletes will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
