MONTREAL — Patrick Larkin of the McGill University men's hockey team has been selected to represent Great Britain at the inaugural Ultimate Hockey 3x3 tournament, scheduled for April 10-12 in Innsbruck, Austria.
The event marks the first stop on the Ultimate Hockey "Breaking the Ice Tour" and coincides with the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck.
A six-foot, 203-pound defensive forward from Swindon, England, Larkin is making his second international appearance for Great Britain this season. The 25-year-old senior, who is majoring in International Development Studies, previously competed at the IIHF European Cup of Nations in Poland (Nov. 6-8), where he recorded a goal and an assist in three games.
Over four seasons with the McGill Redbirds, Larkin appeared in 82 career games overall, registering 15 points, including six goals. Prior to joining McGill, he played at St. Andrew's College and spent time in the Central Canada Hockey League with the Kemptville 73's.
Larkin comes from a strong McGill hockey lineage. His father, Bryan Larkin, was an All-Canadian defenceman with the Redbirds and is an inductee of the McGill Sports Hall of Fame.
Great Britain will be one of six teams competing at the tournament, alongside Austria, Estonia, Germany, Hungary and the Netherlands. The British squad will be led by head coach Corey Neilson and general manager Kevin McLaughlin.
Games will be played in a three-on-three format, consisting of two 12-minute periods.
Larkin will be joined on the roster by Kell Beattie, Cameron Briere, Johnny Curran, Aren Francis, Thomas Freel, Carter Hamill, Kris Inglis, Jonathan McBean, Logan Neilson, Jake Sacratini and Liam Stenton. Goaltenders Alfie Blakeley and Daniel McGowan round out the lineup.

MONTRÉAL — Patrick Larkin, membre de l'équipe masculine de hockey de l'Université McGill, a été sélectionné pour représenter la Grande-Bretagne au tournoi inaugural Ultimate Hockey 3 contre 3, qui se tiendra du 10 au 12 avril à Innsbruck, en Autriche.
L'événement constitue la première étape de la tournée « Breaking the Ice » d'Ultimate Hockey et s'inscrit dans les célébrations du 50e anniversaire des Jeux olympiques d'hiver d'Innsbruck.
Originaire de Swindon, en Angleterre, Larkin est un attaquant défensif de six pieds et 203 livres. Il en sera à une deuxième présence sur la scène internationale avec la Grande-Bretagne cette saison. L'étudiant de 25 ans, inscrit en dernière année au baccalauréat en études du développement international, a précédemment pris part à la Coupe des nations européenne de l'IIHF en Pologne (6 au 8 novembre), où il a récolté un but et une aide en trois rencontres.
Au cours de ses quatre saisons avec les Redbirds de McGill, Larkin a disputé 82 matchs en carrière, amassant 15 points, dont six buts. Avant de se joindre à McGill, il a évolué au St. Andrew's College ainsi qu'au niveau junior avec les 73's de Kemptville, dans la Ligue de hockey du Centre du Canada.
Larkin est issu d'une famille bien ancrée dans le hockey à McGill. Son père, Bryan Larkin, ancien défenseur étoile canadien universitaire avec les Redbirds, a été intronisé au Temple de la renommée sportive de McGill.
La Grande-Bretagne sera l'une des six formations en lice lors du tournoi, aux côtés de l'Autriche, de l'Estonie, de l'Allemagne, de la Hongrie et des Pays-Bas. L'équipe britannique sera dirigée par l'entraîneur-chef Corey Neilson et le directeur général Kevin McLaughlin.
Les matchs seront disputés à trois contre trois, selon un format de deux périodes de 12 minutes.
