MONTREAL — Jules Normandin scored a game-high seven points as the defending national champion École de technologie supérieure (ETS) Piranhas defeated McGill 33-17 in RSEQ men's university rugby action at Collège Notre-Dame on Sunday.
The Piranhas struck for four tries, good enough to earn a bonus point in the standings. Normandin, Stanislas Bresse, Neal Combelasse and Clément Turlan each touched down for ETS. Paul Arditti connected for three conversions, while Normandin added another.
McGill countered with three tries of its own, coming from from Ian McDowell, a master's student in neuroscience from Dorval, Que., along with two natives of London, England, namely rookie Mason Graves-Brown, an economics freshman and Nicolas Vicente Louis, a finance senior. The lone Redbirds conversion was made by Martin Laval, a management student who hails from France.
ETS improved to 2-0, collecting 10 points to sit atop the RSEQ table, two ahead of the Montréal Carabins (1-0-1). McGill, which had piled up 90 points through its first two games, dropped to 1-1 and is tied for third with Bishop's (1-0).
Players of the game were ETS forward Stanislas Blazkowski and McGill's Raphael Seigner.
The Piranhas next visit the Carabins on Sept. 20 at 1 p.m., while McGill heads to Ottawa to face the Gee-Gees on Sept. 27 in a 6 p.m. kickoff.

MONTRÉAL — Jules Normandin a marqué sept points, le plus grand nombre de points du match, alors que les Piranhas de l'École de technologie supérieure (ETS), champions nationaux en titre, ont battu McGill 33-17 lors d'un match de rugby universitaire masculin du RSEQ au Collège Notre-Dame dimanche.
Les Piranhas ont marqué quatre essais, ce qui leur a valu un point bonus au classement. Normandin, Stanislas Bresse, Neal Combelasse et Clément Turlan ont chacun marqué un essai pour l'ETS. Paul Arditti a réussi trois transformations, tandis que Normandin en a ajouté une autre.
McGill a riposté avec trois essais, marqués par Ian McDowell, étudiant en maîtrise de neurosciences originaire de Dorval, au Québec, ainsi que par deux joueurs originaires de Londres, en Angleterre, à savoir le rookie Mason Graves-Brown, étudiant de première année en économie, et Nicolas Vicente Louis, étudiant de dernière année en finance. La seule transformation des Redbirds a été réalisée par Martin Laval, étudiant en gestion originaire de France.
L'ETS a amélioré son bilan à 2-0, récoltant 10 points pour se hisser en tête du classement du RSEQ, deux points devant les Carabins de Montréal (1-0-1). McGill, qui avait accumulé 90 points lors de ses deux premiers matchs, est tombé à 1-1 et se retrouve à égalité au troisième rang avec Bishop's (1-0).
