McGill Martlets to host Italian Olympic team as schedule unveiled for 131st year of women's hockey

MONTREAL – The McGill University women's hockey team has announced its 2025–26 schedule for the team's 131st year of operation, featuring a full slate of regular-season games in the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) and four non-conference home matchups to start the campaign at McConnell Arena, which is re-opening after a year-long renovation project.

The Martlets, who played their first-ever game in the 1895-96 season, begin pre-season action with home games against Mt. Allison on Sept. 21, followed by matchups against Moncton, Queen's, and Carleton.

A special non-conference rendezvous is slated for Jan. 8, 2026, when the Martlets will host the Italian national team which is touring in preparation of the upcoming Winter Olympics slated to be hosted by Italy, Feb. 6-22, 2026.

McGill's regular season gets underway Oct. 16 at home to Bishop's, the defending U SPORTS national champions. The Martlets will then resume their crosstown rivalry with a home-and-home series against Concordia, Oct. 24 on the road and Oct. 26 at home.

Other key first semester matchups include a home-and-home series with reigning conference champion Montréal, Nov. 21 at CEPSUM Arena and Nov. 23 at Place Bell Arena in Laval, Que.

In total, McGill is scheduled to play 29 games overall — including 24 in conference — as they aim to build on last season's 4-15-2 campaign and push for a return to the RSEQ playoffs.

A full schedule, including game times and ticket information, is available on the McGill Athletics website.
