OTTAWA – Defender
Stéphanie Hill, a McGill University women's soccer product from Dollard des Ormeaux, Que., scored her first official goal at the professional level as the Montreal Roses FC settled for a 1-1 draw against Ottawa Rapid FC, Sunday, in the Northern Super League.
Hill put her troops ahead 1-0 in the 53rd minute of play, with a one-touch redirect off her knee, a result of a corner kick from teammate
Mégane Sauvé. Hill, however, was later charged with a foul in stoppage time which resulted in a successful penalty kick by
Delaney Baie-Pridham to force the stalemate.
Hill started the game against Ottawa and in the 83rd minute, was joined in the lineup by McGill teammate
Mara Bouchard, an All-Canadian from Granby, Que. They are among three former Martlets in the NSL, along with
Sophie Guillmette, an RSEQ all-star goaltender from Ahuntsic, Que., who plays with the Halifax Tides, FC.
An imposing six-foot defender, Hill is slated to formally graduate this week with a master's degree in physical therapy, after previously earning a science degree from McGill in 2023. She served as captain of the McGill Martlets and was a four-time RSEQ conference all-star, meriting All-Canadian first-team status in 2023.
Ottawa (2-1-2) next visits AFC Toronto (3-2-1) on June 7, while Montreal (3-2-2) will host Vancouver Rise FC (3-2-2) on June 7 at Stade Boréale.
