OTTAWA – Rosalie Lupien of the McGill University women's track and field team produced a gold result, to pace the Martlets at the Ravens Last Chance Meet, Saturday. There was no team scoring at the two-day indoor competition, that was held at the Louis Riel Dome in the nation's capital, Feb. 16-17.
 
McGill registered five podium finishes on the women's side, with a gold medal, one silver and three bronzes.
 
Lupien, a 21-year-old economics senior from Longueuil, Que., won the pole vault competition, clearing a height of 3.21 metres. The jump was shy of her personal best (3.30m) and the school record (3.65m).
 
Ella Villeneuve finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 12.05m.
 
Bronze medal finishes were produced by Leila McFarland (high jump), Sophie Andrew (pole Vault) and Annika Burkard (triple jump).
 
The only McGill record that was in jeopardy was in the 300m, where Felicitas Zahlbruckner finished eight with a time of 39.58 seconds, missing the standard 39.48 by a tenth of a second..
 
This was the last opportunity for athletes to qualify for the upcoming U SPORTS Nationals, prior to the RSEQ championship meet in Quebec City, Feb. 23-24. All gold medalists at the conference title meet will qualify for Nationals.
