OTTAWA – The McGill swim team racked up another 20 medals in 18 races -- winning 10 golds, four silvers and six bronzes -- on Day 2 of the RSEQ championship meet at the Montpetit Hall short-course pool on the University of Ottawa campus, Friday. In 24 final races over the first two days of competition, the McGill men and women have combined to capture 14 gold medals, five silvers and seven bronzes.
With one day remaining, McGill is poised to repeat a three-banner sweep, with a 534-407 points lead over second-place Ottawa in the women's division, a 527-442 edge over the Gee-Gees on the men's side and a 1,061-849 margin over the host team in the combined standings.
"The team points are looking good going in to the last day of the meet," said McGill head coach
Peter Carpenter. "We are weathering a pretty strong challenge from uOttawa."
The conference championship wraps up on Saturday, with the prelims slated to begin at 8 am, followed by the finals at 3 p.m.
