MONTREAL – Two swimmers from McGill University have received the U SPORTS Student-Athlete Community Service Award for combining leadership with academic excellence and athletic success.
The laureates, announced at the national swimming championships last weekend in Markham, Ont., are Iris Tinmouth, a 21-year-old microbiology senior from Comox, B.C., and Charles-Antoine Boucher, a 24-year-old medical student from Blainville, Que. Both were the RSEQ conference nominees for the award, earned President's Student-Athlete Honour Roll recognition and were named U SPORTS Academic All-Canadians.
This marks the first time a pair of McGill varsity athletes have swept the national leadership award in the same sport. Previous McGill swimmers to earn the honour are Pablo Collin (2023) and Erik Linseisen (2025), since the award was first presented in 2012.
Tinmouth was among five members of the McGill swim program to earn All-Canadian certificates at the nationals. As a gold medalist, she merited first team honours along with Loic Courville-Fortin of Repentigny, Que., on the men's side. Those who made the second squad were silver medalists Hocine Feddag of St. Hubert, Que., Artiom Volodin of Montreal and Yegor Semenyuk of Gatineau, Que.
Tinmouth, a five-foot-four distance specialist, won four gold medals at the RSEQ championships and added a gold and a bronze at the national meet. The McGill team captain was also named to the Dean's Honour List. A product of Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School in Courtenay, B.C., she has volunteered with the Student Accessibility Office and Special Olympics, and helped coordinate the swim team's pancreatic cancer fundraiser. Tinmouth also served as an ambassador for the team's McGill24 fundraiser. In addition, she joined McGill MEDLIFE, a club that supports global health initiatives and works with students to deliver medical care to low-income families.
Boucher, a six-foot-seven backstroke specialist, won bronze at the RSEQ championships and qualified for the national meet, where he reached the B finals and scored points for McGill with a pair of eighth-place finishes in the 50- and 100-metre backstroke events. The second-year medical student transferred to McGill in 2025 after graduating from the Université de Sherbrooke with a degree in physiotherapy. He published two scientific articles on global health last fall and has volunteered for multiple causes, including the Atlas Social Pediatrics Centre. He has served as co-president of the REGARDMed Club of the Medical Students' Society at McGill. He also volunteered as a mentor in the Faculty of Medicine's ACE Buddy program, as a tutor for the Clinical Skills Training and Assessment Room (CSTAR), and as a swim coach for an amateur triathlon club.
Boucher has also mentored at various events to guide students aspiring to enter highly competitive academic programs such as medicine, pharmacology and physical therapy, helping to demystify the admissions process.

Deux nageurs de McGill primés au pays
Tinmouth et Boucher récompensés par U SPORTS
MONTRÉAL – Deux nageurs de l'Université McGill ont reçu le prix du service communautaire étudiant-athlète de U SPORTS, récompensant leur leadership, leur excellence académique et leurs performances sportives.
Les lauréats, annoncés le week-end dernier lors des championnats nationaux de natation à Markham, en Ontario, sont Iris Tinmouth, 21 ans, étudiante en microbiologie originaire de Comox, en Colombie-Britannique, et Charles-Antoine Boucher, 24 ans, étudiant en médecine de Blainville, au Québec. Tous deux étaient les candidats du RSEQ pour ce prix, ont été nommés au tableau d'honneur des étudiants-athlètes du recteur et ont obtenu le statut d'Académique canadien de U SPORTS.
Il s'agit d'une première pour McGill, alors que deux athlètes d'un même sport remportent simultanément ce prix national de leadership. Les précédents nageurs de McGill à avoir été honorés sont Pablo Collin (2023) et Erik Linseisen (2025), depuis la création du prix en 2012.
Tinmouth faisait partie des cinq membres de l'équipe de natation de McGill à avoir obtenu le statut d'All-Canadian aux championnats nationaux. Grâce à sa médaille d'or, elle a été nommée sur la première équipe d'étoiles en compagnie de Loïc Courville-Fortin, de Repentigny, du côté masculin.
Les membres de la deuxième équipe sont les médaillés d'argent Hocine Feddag, de Saint-Hubert, Artiom Volodin, de Montréal, et Yegor Semenyuk, de Gatineau.
Tinmouth, spécialiste des longues distances mesurant 1,63 m, a remporté quatre médailles d'or au championnat du RSEQ, en plus d'ajouter une médaille d'or et une de bronze aux championnats nationaux. Capitaine de l'équipe, elle a également figuré sur la liste d'honneur du doyen. Diplômée de la Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School de Courtenay, en Colombie-Britannique, elle s'est impliquée auprès du Service de soutien aux étudiants en situation de handicap, des Olympiques spéciaux, et a contribué à l'organisation de la collecte de fonds de l'équipe de natation au profit de la lutte contre le cancer du pancréas. Elle a aussi agi à titre d'ambassadrice pour la campagne McGill24 de l'équipe. Par ailleurs, elle s'est engagée avec McGill MEDLIFE, un regroupement qui appuie des initiatives en santé mondiale et vise à offrir des soins médicaux aux familles à faible revenu.
Boucher, spécialiste du dos mesurant 2,01 m, a remporté une médaille de bronze au championnat du RSEQ avant de se qualifier pour les championnats nationaux, où il a accédé aux finales B et récolté des points pour McGill grâce à deux huitièmes places aux épreuves du 50 m et du 100 m dos. Étudiant de deuxième année en médecine, il s'est joint à McGill en 2025 après avoir obtenu un diplôme en physiothérapie de l'Université de Sherbrooke. Il a publié deux articles scientifiques en santé mondiale l'automne dernier et s'est impliqué auprès de plusieurs causes, notamment au Centre de pédiatrie sociale Atlas. Il a été coprésident du club REGARDMed de l'Association des étudiants en médecine de McGill. Il a également agi comme mentor bénévole dans le programme ACE Buddy de la Faculté de médecine, tuteur pour le centre CSTAR (Clinical Skills Training and Assessment Room), ainsi qu'entraîneur bénévole en natation pour un club de triathlon amateur.
Boucher a aussi participé à diverses activités de mentorat visant à accompagner les étudiants souhaitant intégrer des programmes universitaires hautement compétitifs, comme la médecine, la pharmacologie et la physiothérapie, contribuant à démystifier le processus d'admission.
