SHERBROOKE -- The visiting McGill men's rugby team outlasted Sherbrooke 10-8 in snowy, sub-zero temperatures on the synthetic field, Sunday, to close out their regular season schedule.
The result clinched second place in the seven-team RSEQ conference with a 5-1 record, a significant improvement over last year's 3-4 third-place record.
Sayf Al-Omaishi, a fifth-year bio-chemistry senior from Markham, Ont., and
Michael Nwabufo, an international development studies junior from Ottawa, each scored unconverted tries for McGill.
Laurent Jomphe tallied an unconverted try for the Vert & Or and teammate
Clement Tisnerat added a penalty kick.
A scoring summary was not available.
The Redmen will host third-place Bishop's in an RSEQ semifinal at Percival Molson Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 3. The game is tentatively slated to be streamed live on the
McGill Sports Network with the opening kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
