MONTREAL -- Sebastian Boyer scored a dozen points, including the winning tally as the McGill University men's rugby squad came from behind for a hard-fought 17-13 victory over visiting Bishop's at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium, Friday.

It marked the first victory of the season for McGill, the perennial RSEQ champions, who improved to an uncharacteristic 1-4.record. The Gaiters, who suffered their first loss of the season, tumbled to 4-1 but picked up a bonus point in the standings by limiting the victors to seven or fewer points.

Boyer, 6-foot-2, 215-pound economics junior from the Town of Mt. Royal, in Quebec, successfully converted his own second-minute try, then scored another try -- the game-winner -- in the 60th minute.

Zack Hazan of Montreal had the other try for the Redmen in the 14th minute.

Bishop's scrum-half Josh Bray registered a penalty kick in the 30th minute, reducing the deficit to 12-3 heading intot the intermission.

The Gaiters mounted a comeback attempt in the second half when William Vendramini scored a try in the 47th minute and Bray added another penalty kick in the 55th, putting Bishop's ahead 13-12, but Boyer's try just five minutes later sealed the Redmen's victory.

McGill (1-4) next hosts Sherbrooke (0-5) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Percival Molson Stadium. The Gaiters (4-1) visit Concordia (5-0) on Friday, Oct. 13.
