MONTREAL --
Sebastien Boyer from Town of Mt. Royal, Que., tallied 15 points as McGill topped Sherbrooke 29-15 in RSEQ men's rugby at Percival Molson Stadium on Saturday.
It was the second win of the season and second in a row for the Redmen, who got off to an uncharacteristic 0-4 slow start but appear to be finding their stride as the playoffs approach.
Boyer, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound economics junior, scored the opening try in the sixth minute and followed it up with a ninth-minute penalty kick. He then successfully scored and converted his own try in the 48th minute.
Inoue Vong-Seguy of France and
Dylan Havelock of Ottawa also had tries for McGill, both of which were converted by rookie
Elliot Esposito-Menard of Spain.
The Vert & Or's points came on tries by
Jonathan Pelletier-Marcotte and
Benoit Goyette, a penalty kick by
Julien Pesac and a conversion by
Nicolas Guillaud.
The Redmen (2-4) finish the regular season against Montreal (3-3) at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20 at Percival Molson Stadium. Sherbrooke (0-6) visits École de technologie supérieure (3-3) that evening.
