OTTAWA -- Rightfielder
Andre Lagarde racked up four RBIs on two hits and McGill exploded for five late runs for in a 13-4 road victory over Ottawa in the opener of a baseball doubleheader at RCGT Stadium, Saturday.
The result extended McGill's unblemished record to 4-0 in CCBA play.
Lagarde, who was batting fifth, homered in the second inning and tripled in the seventh inning. He went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks and scored twice. Lagarde was one of four Redmen who had two-hit performances, along with
Alex Levis,
Christopher Sanford and
Emerson Dohm.
McGill starter
Rocky Hroch allowed three runs over five innings for the victory. He surrendered five hits, struck out six and walked two. Ottawa starter
Phil Lafleche was charged with the loss. He allowed eight runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out one.
Zach Lindgren led Ottawa's offensive threat, as he reached base four times.
McGill went up for good in the second, scoring three runs on a two-run home run by Lagarde and an RBI single by
Alex Levis. After posting two runs in the third, McGill again scored two in the fourth. In the third, McGill scored on an RBI single by
Emerson Dohm, bringing home
Christopher Stanford.
McGill (4-0) will look for the doubleheader sweep over winless Ottawa (0-2) in the second game, which starts at 3 p.m.
