Jack Pantalena scored the winning run on a fifth-inning error and reliever
Henry Dennis retired the side on five pitches in the final inning as McGill eked out a 5-4 win over Carleton in the first game of a CCBA doubleheader at Lake Road Park, Sunday.
McGill scored a pair of first-inning runs and never looked back en route to their 14th victory in 15 games. They led 4-1 after two innings and 5-1 after four before the Ravens pecked away with three runs in the fifth on a two-run single by
Mike Bannon.
Carleton outhit McGill 6-5 but stranded nine runners on base.
Jared Kersh was the only Redmen player with a multi-hit outing, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
McGill starting pitcher
Rocky Hroch collected the victory. He surrendered four hits and one run over four innings, striking out eight and walking three.
Carleton starter
Braden McGinnis was charged with the loss. He lasted three innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits, struck out three and walked two.
They will look for a doubleheader sweep to close out the regular season later today.
