OTTAWA --
Rob Sedin reached base three times, scoring three runs to go with an RBI single as McGill outlasted Ottawa 12-7 at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park, Sunday.
The Gee-Gees outhit McGill 10-7 but they stranded 14 on base and were hurt by a number of miscues in the field. They committed four errors which led to three unearned runs.
Justin Hii got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed four runs over five innings. Hii struck out three, walked four and gave up six hits.
Adam Stemach took the loss for the Gee-Gees. He allowed six runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out none.
McGill didn't relinquish the lead after scoring five runs in the first inning when it scored on a two-run error, a groundout by
Zachary Aaron, and an RBI single by
Jack Pantalena.
The Redmen added one-run rallies in the second inning and the fourth. In the second, McGill scored on a steal of home, bringing home Sedin. They piled on five more runs in the top of the third. A hit scored
Alex Levis to get McGill on the board in the inning.
Three runs in the bottom of the sixth helped Ottawa close the deficit to 12-7. A two-run single by
Mushashi Takara and a fielder's choice set off the Ottawa rally. Finally,
Benji Kaiseman got
Raphael Payant to ground out to end the threat.
