TORONTO (CIS) – The Canadian national junior team prospects exploded for four goals in less than nine minutes early in the second period en route to a 5-0 win over the CIS men's hockey all-stars in the second leg of their two-game exhibition series at the MasterCard Centre, Sunday afternoon.
 
Two players from McGill University were among those dressed for the CIS squad, namely defenceman Samuel Labrecque and forward Liam Heelis.

It was a rude awakening for Team CIS, which was hoping to sweep the doubleheader after taking Saturday night's opener 5-4 in a shootout against the Team Canada hopefuls, who are in the final stages of their preparation for the 40^th IIHF World Junior Championship in Finland (Dec. 26 – Jan. 5).
 
Anthony Beauvillier, a standout forward from the Shawinigan Cataractes who was selected by the New York Islanders in the first round of last summer's NHL draft, was the uncontested star of Sunday's rematch with a hat-trick and one assist. The 18-year old from Sorel, Que., had forced overtime on Saturday when he scored with 2:23 left in regulation. 
 
Samuel Montembeault from the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, a third-round draft pick of the Florida Panthers in 2015, made 33 saves to earn the shutout.
 
"We had a bad 10 minutes and it was the difference," said Team CIS captain Kruise Reddick, a fifth-year forward from the University of Alberta. "I thought they came out with a little bit more confident than last night. But we still competed hard. Unfortunately we had that 10-minute letdown."
 
Head coach Shawn Camp from the University of Guelph echoed his captain's comments.
 
"Those 10 minutes cost us the game, for sure. Our compete level was there. I don't think the short turnaround between the two games was a huge factor."
 
Despite the lopsided score in the rematch, Reddick had nothing but great things to say about the weekend series.
 
"We were treated unbelievably well by Hockey Canada and all the organizers. It was truly a first-class event from start to finish."
 
Starting in net for Team CIS on Sunday, Corbin Boes from Dalhousie allowed four goals on 22 shots in 31 minutes and 41 seconds of action.
 
Jordon Cooke then took over and had only been on the ice for nine seconds when Team Canada added its fifth and final goal. The Saskatchewan Huskies netminder quickly settled down however and was perfect on the next 19 shots he faced.
 
Team Canada jumped to a 1-0 lead at 16:06 of the first period when Beauvillier potted in a rebound after a nice pad save by Boes.
 
The university stars more than held their own in the opening stanza and held a 13-11 advantage in shots on net going into the first intermission.
 
It would be a different story in the middle frame.
 
The ice was barely dry when Pierre-Luc Dubois of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles doubled his team's lead at 3:04, and it was all downhill from there for the CIS squad.
 
Beauvillier made it 3-0 with his second of the match and third of the series at 7:54 and completed his hat-trick less than four minutes later with a laser slapshot that signalled the end for Boes.
 
Only nine seconds later, Travis Konecny of the Ottawa 67's found himself all alone in front of the net and rounded out the scoring against Cooke.
 
Team Canada dominated 14-9 in shots in the second period and 17-11 in the third to end the contest with a 42-33 advantage.
 
NOTES: Goaltender Kevin Bailie and defenceman Spencer Abraham, both of the Queen's Gaels, were out of the Team CIS lineup on Sunday... Bailie enjoyed the day off following a brilliant 40-save performance on Saturday, while Abraham, who had two assists and the shootout winner in the series opener, suffered an injury in Game 1.
