OTTAWA -- Middle infielder
Jamie Fuoco, an engineering junior from Montreal, had a pair of timely hits as visiting McGill edged Ottawa 5-4 to sweep a season-opening doubleheader in the nation's capital, Saturday.
Pitcher
Elliott Ariganello, an economics senior from Toronto, collected the nightcap win.
In the first game,
Tyler Welence, an engineering junior from Ridgewood, N.J., knocked in four runs as the Redmen walloped Ottawa 14-2 at Ottawa Stadium, to open up regular season play in the newly-formed Canadian Collegiate Baseball Association.
Nolan Werre, another engineering junior, from St. Albert, Alta.,was the winning pitcher.
The Redmen are 2-0 in CCBA play and will continue their four-game road trip when they take on Carleton, Sunday in another doubleheader.
