TROIS-RIVIERES, Que. -- A power-play goal by Pierre-Marc Morin midway through the opening period stood up as the UQTR Patriotes blanked visiting McGill 3-0 in men's perseason hockey, Friday.

The game featured 16 minor penalties and McGill spent much of the game shorthanded. UQTR went 1-for-9 on the power-play, while the Redmen went 0-for-5. The Pats held a 1-0 lead after one period and 2-0 edge after two.

Felix Plouffe added an insurance marker at 9:18 of the middle stanza and Guillaume Asselin put the game out of reach when he struck at 9:57 of the final period.

Both teams registered 28 shots on net as Pats netminder Guillaume Nadeau merited the shutout. The Redmen alternated two different goaltenders for the third straight game. Sophomore Karel St. Laurent started between the pipes for McGill and was saddled with the loss, conceding a pair of goals on 13 shots faced. He was relieved of his duties at 10:42 of the middle stanza by sophomore Jacob Gervais-Chouinard, who turned aside 14 of 15 shots.

McGill, which dropped to 1-2-0 in preseason play, will host St. Thomas University, an AUS conference team from Fredericton, N.B., in back-to-back games at McConnell Arena, Sept. 26-27.
