AHUNTSIC, Que. -- Olivier Giguere tossed a complete game four-hitter as the Universite de Montreal baseball team blanked McGill 4-0 at Parc Ahuntsic in CCBA action, Monday, halting McGill's win streak at eight games.

Giguere struck out seven and allowed four walks over seven innings against the Redmen who were missing two key starters, shortstop Tyler Welence and centrefielder Adam Gordon.

Montreal, which scored twice in the third inning, all but put the game out of reach with two more in the fourth -- on a sacrifice fly by Simon Brisebois and an RBI single by Vincent Ally. Teammate Felix Veilleux had a hot bat. Veilleux went 2-for-3 and scored two runs. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

For the Redmen, Alexander Levis had half the team's hits with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate. The team's only other hits went to Zachary Aaron and Max Rosen. Starter Tim Jones was charged with the loss. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out six, and allowed four runs.

Montreal improved to 2-3 in the CCBA Northern Division, while McGill, which sits perched atop the standings with an 8-1 record, will look to avenge the loss with a complete lineup when the team heads back to play Montreal at Parc Ahuntsic on Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
