CCBA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS (Day 3 of 3): McGill to meet Concordia in gold medal game at 3 pm

MONTREAL -- It will be a dream match-up between cross-town rivals from McGill University and Concordia in the gold medal game at the Canadian Collegiate Baseball Association championship. The cross-town rivals will confront each other on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Gary Carter Field on the grounds of Parc Pierre Elliott Trudeau in the Cote St. Luc borough of Montreal.

McGill (3-1), which qualified as host team, finished atop the CCBA Northern Conference standings during the regular season with a 14-6 record. They qualified for the CCBA final with a 2-0 shutout over the Montreal Carabins on Sunday morning.

Concordia (3-1) was third during the regular season with an 11-9 record but upset both Montreal and McGill in the best-of-three playoff rounds. Including post-season play, Concordia has won five of eight meetings between the bitter archrivals this season. They reached the Sunday matinee CCBA final with an 8-1 semifinal victory over Saint Mary's.

The Redmen will be looking for their fourth national collegiate title, having previously won in 1994, 2006 and 2010. Concordia, which lost 1-0 to Windsor in the national final last year, claimed their only championship in 2009 with a 12-2 victory over Cape Breton.

Tickets, available at the door, are $5. Children 12-and-under get in for free.

Results of all games will be sent via the Redmen baseball twitter account (@mcgillbaseball), as well as the team's Facebook page and will be listed on the McGill Athletics website
