It was the second consecutive win for McGill, which was knocked out of the national rankings this week but improved to 5-2 and moved into a tie with the Gaiters (5-2) atop the RSEQ standings. The result also put an end to the Bishop's five-game win streak.

Bibeau, who returned to the lineup in mid-November after missing all of last year recovering from knee surgery, saw 30 minutes of court time and produced his best offensive output of the season.  He made six of nine shots from the floor, including a stellar 5-for-7 performance from three-point range. The 6-foot-3 junior guard was also credited with a pair of steals and a rebound.

Mike Andrews, a 6-foot-10, 235-pound centre from Oakville, Que., came off the bench to lead the Gaiters with 18 points in 23 minutes, while teammate Onnex Blackwood of Scarborough, Ont., had 15.

Point-guard Adrian Hynes-Guery, a first-year transfer out of American International College, was the only other Redmen in double figures with 10 points. The Montreal native also collected five rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.

Team captain Winn Clark, a senior from Mission Hills, KS, contributed nine points and six rebounds. Nathan Joyal of St. Lazare, Que., added eight points, including a pair of free-throws for the winning basket, putting McGill ahead 62-54 with 1:05 remaining.

The Redmen led 20-15 at the quarter, 35-30 at halftime and 48-38 after three quarters. They only went to the line nine times and came away with seven points, compared to BU, which shot 13-for-21 from the charity stripe. Bishop's came on in the final stanza to make it close, taking advantage of the Redmen losing three players -- Aleksandar Mitrovic, Rodrigo Imperador and Vincent Dufort -- each of whom fouled out. Dufort, a sophomore from Smith's Falls, Ont., tallied seven points and pulled down a game-high eight boards before exiting.

McGill dominated under the glass, with a 41-24 edge in rebounding. The Gaiters forced a plethora of McGill errors, 27 in all, which translated into a 25-14 advantage in points off turnovers. McGill shot 38.3 per cent from the floor (23/60) and 40.0 from beyond the arc (10/25), compared to Bishop's, which connected on 43.1 and 27.3, respectively.

The Redmen will host UQAM (3-5) on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the opener of a men's and women's twin-bill at Love Competition Hall. It will mark one of the few times in McGill history that a men's contest precedes the women. The doubleheader is slated to be webcast live on SSN.

Bishop's will play at third-place Concordia (4-3) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
