Lost 0-21 (forfeit) at Montreal
(NOTE: McGILL HAS FORFEITED THIS GAME FOR DRESSING AN INELIGIBLE PLAYER AND THE SCORE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 21-0)
MONTREAL - Keelan Chapman, a senior from Beijing, scored two tries as McGill opened defence of their Quebec men's rugby championship, with a 25-0 shutout over the Montreal Carabins at Stade CESUM, Saturday.
The Carabins, a new franchise in the RSEQ conference this year, held the perennial champs off the scoreboard until the second half.
Scrum-half Daniel Levin of London, Ont., broke the ice with a try in the 52nd minute of play. The Redmen then exploded for three additional tries in a 10-minute span, with Chapman scoring in the 65th minute, followed five minutes later by Roderick MacKenzie, a fifth-year senior from Vancouver, V.C., and Chapman again in the 75th minute.
Sophomore Quentin Pradere, who hails from London, England, added a pair of conversions to round out the scoring.
McGill, which improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in league play, will travel to Concordia for a mid-week game on Wednesday at 9 p.m.
